How to take a screenshot or screen recording on your computer

Quick tips on grabbing screenshots for troubleshooting with Tiller Money's Customer Success team.

If we ask you to grab a screenshot of an error or the issue you're seeing in your sheet or on the Console here are some tips for how to do it.

How to take a screenshot

On a Mac computer:

  1. Press CMD + Shift + 4

  2. Click and drag your cursor around the area you want to capture

  3. The screenshot will be saved to your Desktop (this is the default)

  4. Open the Finder app and drag the screenshot from your Desktop into the chat window or email

On a Windows computer:

  1. Open the Snipping Tool tool from the Start menu

  2. Choose a mode or click the "Camera icon" button

  3. Click on "+ New" and drag your cursor around the area you want to capture

  4. Open the File menu and Choose Save As to save it to a location on your computer.

  5. Drag the screenshot into the chat tool or email from it's stored location

How to take a video screen recording

On a Mac computer

  1. Open the Quicktime application

  2. Modify the microphone and recording area settings as desired

  3. Start recording

On a Windows computer

You can also use the Snipping Tool to capture a video snip by selecting these options:

Windows 10 and higher also has Xbox Game Bar that you can use to record your screen or you can use a free service called Loom
